Strategic Alliances

Don Thomson brings a unique and valuable perspective to his Strategic Alliances role with CAREpath. Don, who is also President of SOS Resource, works closely with insurance companies to help them integrate health services more effectively and to capitalize on the synergies found in complementary health service offerings.

Don draws on nearly two decades of progressive experience in business development, operations, product development, marketing and distribution in medical and financial services. He combines this with a proven track record in helping Canadians with serious illnesses navigate through the public health care system.

Prior to founding SOS Resource, Don was Executive Vice-President, Global Business Development and President of Best Doctors (Canada). He was responsible for all Canadian operational areas, including product development, pricing, marketing, sales and distribution.

Don is a past member of the CLHIA's Living Benefits Working Group on Policyholder Taxation and a past member of the Canadian Living Benefits Seminar Planning Committee. He also is the former leader of Munich Reinsurance Company's Global Knowledge Management Initiative for Living Benefits.

Don has participated in roundtable discussions regarding the Romanow and Kirby Reports on the future of health care in Canada, and has spoken at over 200 Canadian, American and Caribbean industry conferences. He has been interviewed by The Financial Post, The Canadian Press, The Medical Post, Benefits Canada and The Insurance Journal; and has published articles in Marketing Options and The Disability Newsletter.
