"After my breast cancer diagnosis in April 2007, I was referred to the services of CAREpath™ by my federation. The experience of dealing with professionals who are taking the time to listen and to give numerous helpful suggestions has been invaluable.

During my surgeries and chemotherapy treatment, I was in contact with Anita McGowan [my CAREpath provider] on as weekly basis. Anita was key in my understanding of what I was going through: she helped me decipher the pathology reports, sent me lists of questions to ask the different doctors and medical staff, supported me with exercise plans and nutrition tips, and was always a wonderful positive psychological support. Anita gave me confidence... thanks to her extensive knowledge of the disease, the treatments, and the side effects. She demonstrated compassion when I had to deal with a friend and then my father's diagnoses with cancer while I was trying to get better myself. Anita always made sure that she returned my calls and my e-mails in a timely fashion. She sent me literature on different aspects of the disease. She also completed a thorough assessment of my risk factors for recurrence and a list of recommendations for close follow-ups...

I am grateful that the service was available to me and I wish it could be extended to more people affected with cancer. The support provided by CAREpath, and by [my CAREpath nurse] has been immensely apprecitated.
